LECTURE: CONCEPT ART: THINKING PROCESS & AI TECHNIQUES

30.11.2025

In this video, I break down my process for sketching robots and explain why I relied not only on technical sources, but also on scientific literature from the library. It was important for me to combine several fields—botany, mechanics, and the principles of robotics—to arrive at more unconventional and lifelike forms. I show what I ended up with and which decisions formed the basis of the final designs.
I also raise the topic of neural networks: I explain what they actually are in real-world practice and how we use them in game production. I talk about where they truly help in concept art, and where they do not replace the author’s thinking, but only speed up certain stages.
Already next Friday, after the first Free Group Tour of the digital art exhibition “DigitalART 3.0. Artist vs AI” / “ДиджиталАРТ 3.0. Художник против ИИ”, there will be a screening of an online lecture that Yuri prepared specifically for this exhibition project.
He will share his experience working in the game industry in Russia and abroad, offer his thoughts on the work of a concept artist, and talk in more detail about his project works exhibited in the spaces of the SOVRISK Department.

And here is some news about my art.
This Friday, literally right now, an exhibition is opening in my hometown: DigitalART 3.0. Artist vs AI, and among the works on display there will be my concepts and illustrations dedicated to the near future, with robotics among Soviet-era panel buildings. The show is being held at the Togliatti Museum of Contemporary Art
